DSS BID DESK / FIELD GUIDE / THREE STATES

Search state bids for the service work you do.

A practical starting point for small janitorial, facilities, landscaping, and specialty-cleaning contractors searching Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Manual search

These links take contractors to state systems to search and verify notices themselves. DSS Corp automated alerts are a separate service and are described below only where the app’s coverage records support them.

01 / STATE SEARCH

Alabama

STAARS Vendor Self Service (VSS) and Alabama Buys

Sources checked

Use VSS to browse public opportunities and awards, and use Alabama Buys for vendor registration and bid responses.

How to search

  1. Start in Public Access

On the VSS home page, select Public Access to browse state business opportunities and awards without registering first.

  2. Set up vendor access before responding

Use Alabama Buys to register if you plan to respond to a state solicitation. Follow the VSS FAQ for vendor-account setup and activation.

  3. Search commodity codes and turn on notices

In VSS, register commodity codes that fit your services. The FAQ recommends searching with a general word plus an asterisk, such as clean* or landscap*, then choosing suitable codes for email notifications.

  4. Recheck the issuing agency’s notice

Open the current solicitation and any addenda in the official system before deciding whether and how to bid.

VSS public browsing, VSS commodity-code notifications, and Alabama Buys bid responses are related but distinct steps. Confirm the required account in the official instructions for the action you plan to take.

02 / STATE SEARCH

Louisiana

Louisiana Procurement and Contract Network (LaPAC)

Sources checked

Browse solicitation listings by commodity group or use a bid number when you already have one.

How to search

  1. Browse commodity groups

Choose Bids by Category in LaPAC, then inspect the group description and individual solicitation titles. Groups visible in the current list include Building and Construction and Maintenance Services (72000000) and Industrial Cleaning Services (76000000).

  2. Use the bid-number search when you have a number

Open Search by Bid Number from the LaPAC menu and enter the identifier from an agency notice or another source.

  3. Compare dates before you act

LaPAC listings show the bid number, description, date issued, and bid opening date and time. Review the full solicitation and addenda for the controlling deadlines and submission instructions.

  4. Register for email notices if useful

The Office of State Procurement FAQ says vendors can select commodity codes in LaGov to receive notifications. Continue checking LaPAC directly for groups and opportunities outside your notification selections.

LaPAC’s commodity groups are not verified NAICS filters. Read each category and solicitation description to decide whether the work fits your services.

03 / STATE SEARCH

Mississippi

MS Procurement Search on MS.gov

Sources checked

Use the public RFx search for state opportunities, then register through the state’s supplier system if you need vendor functions.

How to search

  1. Run a public RFx search

The state FAQ says a login is not required to view procurement search results. Choose Search RFx, then search by Product Category or enter a service phrase in Product Category Description.

  2. Try product phrases and check status

Try terms such as janitorial, custodial, grounds maintenance, landscaping, or carpet cleaning. Use the status and date options to focus on opportunities that are still open, then read the full RFx.

  3. Register as a supplier for vendor functions

Supplier registration supports product-based RFx notifications, electronic responses, and purchase-order access. After receiving a MAGIC user ID and password, suppliers must attach a W-9 to their supplier account.

  4. Separate bids from public notices

The search can also show sole-source, intent-to-award, and protective-order-request notices. Mississippi describes these as public notices, not bid opportunities.

The dispatch research snapshot did not establish Mississippi’s portal name or public URL. The MS.gov search, supplier instructions, and FAQ linked here were independently checked on October 21, 2026.

SERVICE CLASSIFICATION STARTING POINTS

Use NAICS to describe your work.

These industry codes can help you build search terms for janitorial, bundled facilities, landscaping, and specialty-cleaning work.

5617Services to Buildings and Dwellings
Broad group covering building and grounds service industries.
561720Janitorial Services
Building-interior cleaning, custodial, washroom sanitation, and related work.
561210Facilities Support Services
A starting point for bundled facility operations that combine cleaning with other support work.
561730Landscaping Services
Landscaping and grounds-maintenance work.
561740Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Services

The state portals use their own commodity or product categories. The research did not verify that Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi maps listings to these NAICS codes; treat them as wording and classification prompts, not confirmed portal filters.

DSS CORP ALERT COVERAGE

Portal access is not the same as a DSS alert.

On October 21, 2026, the app’s coverage records showed no confirmed sources, active sources, operating sources, or validated bid captures for Alabama, Louisiana, or Mississippi. DSS Corp automated alerts are not promised for any state portal in this guide. Coverage claims require a source that is confirmed and operating in the app’s records and passes the app’s capture-validation checks; keep checking the state portals directly.
